All-time participation and prize pool event records were shattered this year as 6,865 Main Event participants, the third-largest turnout in the 42-year history of the World Series of Poker. The players created a prize pool of $64.5 million for the Main Event, which is the No Limit Hold ‘Em World Championship. Attendance was expected to be down with new online gambling regulations perhaps cutting into the action. This was not the case, however, as huge groups turned out to the Rio to get their shot at millions.
